no rest for the...

Wowsers... what a few days! As I write, Carlos Varela has just pulled into town and tomorrow night I'm taking 66 close and personal friends (students) to his concert! We're super excited, not least because he is coming to Tower in the morning, and we know how fortunate we are. If you're stuck without Wednesday night plans (forecast says rain and 40 degrees, what else could you be doing) come on down to Johnny D's to hear one of the more enticing and poignant singer/songwriters you will ever meet!

To make life even more restless, with all of these exciting things happening (and remembering that D2 can arrive any day) I am carless. That's not the worst of it. On Mother's Day, just a mile off the highway where we would have been going 60mph or more, my car's axle BROKE! Literally, the car collapsed over the rear right tire and the tire turned outwards about 2o degrees. Unreal. We are just so grateful to be alive. To cut a long story short, the car was towed, and towed again, and it turns out this is part of the whole recall craziness going on here. Grrrr. Cars. Can't stand them. Can't really get by without one.

But tonight we are blessed with life, love, music and anticipation for all that is ahead. Tomorrow, for Carlos Varela, the day after when my girls acapella chorus performs at the Arts Festival, Monday, when my final exam comes and goes, next week when my school days wind down with most of my students away in D.C., and oh boy, the beautiful day it will be when our little one joins us in this lovely world of ours.
