Magical Weekend

I'm so sad it's Sunday night. How often do we get four days of uninterrupted warmth, family time and loving? Hardly ever....sigh. I hate that Steve no longer works in a school that gets lovely, long holidays. I hate that we live so much for the weekends! But oh, this one was so good. Thursday was Thanksgiving, simply the greatest holiday there is. When will the rest of the world catch on?! We were spoiled rotten in the company of all of the Hares and enjoyed a perfect day which included watching some of my oldest, dearest students ROCK Swampscott in the BIG football game vs. Marblehead, baking delicious pies for dinner and spending all day with my brothers and sister and parents, and of course Steve and Samara, talking, laughing and playing games. PERFECT. The rest of the long weekend was equally enchanting and perfect, especially as we decorated TWO trees: my parents, and OURS! For Christmas we bought ourselves two new couches and the room that we recently finished painting looks just divine. We have been sitting in there this evening since Samara went to sleep (she went down at 6:15pm totally ZONKED from all the laughing) but as the peaceful haven is TECH-FREE (oh so nice) and no TV or laptops are allowed (or Cheerios!) we're now back in the other room so I can 'finish my schoolwork for tomorrow!' Please come and sit with us in there soon. It's enchanting! Living on something of a principle street, I love how we can put out sparkling tree in the window and share it with this little town. And so, with everything in the world to be thankful for, it was only right that Thanksgiving came now. I only wish this slow-mode of life, and walks and talks and family could go on and on. With all the craziness of a little one running around non-stop, too many day-jobs, so many responisbilities, you sure do learn to appreciate the calm, peaceful serenity of just being us.

November - Month of Friends and Family

Last weekend we were very lucky to have dear Rebekah from San Francisco visit. 3 and a half years flew by in an instant. Since Steve was away visiting his poorly grandpa in Tampa, we had a girly-girl weekend and a half. Samara just loved her! Ana Maria visited the weekend before, but I accidentally forgot to take any pics. Fortunately I at least got these three on Sunday. We are so blessed with dear friends who venture out to see us and make it seem like only yesterday we were giggling together and staying up all night every night. Thank you, girls! Come again SOON.

Swinging into Winter

We've had some beautiful sunny days in the high 60's. We can't get enough it. Sure there's nothing like that first snow, but you know us, we're beach and sunshine folk.

Visiting Squirrel at URI

Last weekend we took a day trip to see Squirrel at URI. He's doing so well. He had a cohort of girls at his back upon our arrival and really seems happy! We're so glad for him.


As you can see Samara was quite happy to see her goofy Crazy Uncle Squirrel again!
